MQM involved in Karahi target killings: Syed Munawar Hassan

KARACHI: Amir Jamat-e-Islami Syed Munawar Hassan Saturday said reopening of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s case would be akin to opening a Pandora’s Box while he also alleged that Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) was involved in target killings in Karachi, Geo News reported.

Addressing ‘Meet The Press’ program here at Lahore Press Club, Munawar Hassan said President Asif Ali Zardari, during the three-year tenure of his government, could not even get to the murderers of his wife (Ms Bhutto) let alone brining to justice killers of (Zulfiqar) Bhutto.

He re-iterated that war against terrorism was not Pakistan’s battle, calling it a campaign of protecting the US interests. “Pakistan should immediately withdraw itself from this war,” he demanded.

Munawar Hassan said: “Had the military operation been a solution, we would have witnessed a marked reduction in the past three years but the reality is reflecting otherwise.”

Describing the problem of missing persons as alarming, he said only in Balochistan 260 women had gone missing.

The JI Amir alleged that MQM was involved in target killings in Karachi and that People’s Party, on the basis of having majority, should form its own government in Sindh.
