Kayani not interested in politics, claims WikiLeaks

WikiLeaks has made new revelations about Pakistan in its recently disclosed cables.

Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani said that the army would not take part in politics, claims WikiLeaks.

During his talks with US army commander Gen David Petraeus, Kayani said an impression that Pakistani military was working as mercenary should be removed.

Kayani also said that he was not sure if Asif Ali Zardari would forgive Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf. He said that war on terror would be lost if assistance had not been extended to the affected people. Another cable reveals that the army had expressed reservations about FATA operation in 2008.

WikiLeaks cable also reveals President Zardari assured the US officials that all the aid would be given to the army. At one point former finance minister Shaukat Tareen contacted US ambassador after army refused to disclose details of the US aid.
