G-8 partners seek to resolve Libyan conflict: Russia


Russia said that the G-8 partners have asked them to help resolve the conflict in Libya.



In a meeting in Deauville, France, the G-8 countries discussed the situation in Libya and the Middle East.


Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has opposed the NATO operation in Libya that has been going on for the past two months. The Russian President spokersperson, Natalia Timakova, told the media that g-8 partner countries have asked Russia to act as a mediator to resolve the conflict in Libya.
 

Natalia Timakova said that US president Barrack Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron and French President Nicolas Sarkozy have held bilateral meetings with the President Dmitry Medvedev and requested him to help resolve Libyan conflict.
