Security to people of Balochistan to be ensured: Gilani

ISLAMABAD, Mar 22 : Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani stated that the security of the people of Balochistan will be ensured at all cost through close coordination between the provincial and federal law enforcement agencies. The miscreants, he said, who are trying to sabotage government’s efforts for socio-economic development of the province will be apprehended and brought to justice. The Prime Minister was talking to a four member delegation from Balochistan led by Chief Minister of Balochistan Nawab Aslam Raisani here at the Prime Minister House Tuesday afternoon.The Prime Minister reiterated that development of Balochistan was a commitment which will be honoured. The socio-economic development of Balochistan is not only essential for the prosperity of the people of the province but would also open up economic linkages with the rest of the country.The Prime Minister said while the Agaz-e-Haqooq Balochistan covers all sectors, special focus will be laid on infrastructure development to enhance connectivity with other provinces of the country. He also assured that the water courses, embankments and roads affected by floods would be repaired on priority.The Prime Minister assured the delegation that directions would be issued to the concerned organizations for early release of requisite funds for the ongoing mega projects in the province. He asked the members of the delegation to keep strict vigilance on the progress of work in different areas of the province and keep him abreast with the details.The Chief Minister Balochistan apprised the Prime Minister on the progress of various development schemes in the province as well as the impediments to early completion of projects, including delay in the release of funds.The members of the delegation mentioned that they believe there is involvement of foreign elements is spoiling the peace and tranquility in some areas of the province. The security situation, they said, need to be improved so that socio-economic development can take place. The people of the province, they added, have great desire to see a positive change in their lives through improved standard of living, increased job opportunities and developed civic amenities. They also demanded flat electricity rates for the tubewells in the agriculture sector.The members of the delegation included Senator Maulana Muhammad KhanSherani and Maulana Abdul Wasey, Senior Minister Balochistan.
